Bingo Cards – Background – Game Related
Desde hace unas semanas su dificultad para respirar ha empeorado.
Su más que conocida enfermera de confianza me avisa para valorarla.
Acudimos fuera de horario a su domicilio, un pequeño perro con aires de león nos recibe.
Ella nos está esperando sentada en su sillón.
Guapa, bien peinada, con los ojos brillantes y los labios pintados.
Nos regala una sonrisa durante el saludo.
Me explica su particular historia médica, y me cuenta su talón de Aquiles, un pulmón herido.
Después de escuchar sus palabras, me tomo un tiempo para oír lo que sus pulmones me cuentan.
En ocasiones el relato de los pacientes no coincide con lo que su cuerpo nos dice, en los extremos de la vida, no nos gusta salir de casa y menos que alguien nos quiera llevar de paseo al hospital.
Antes de dar mi diagnóstico, ya me confiesa que se quiere ir al bingo. Siempre juega allí con sus amigas, y por lo visto, es uno de sus momentos especiales del día. Mientras nos lo cuenta, sus palabras iluminan su rostro y me trasporta por unos segundos a mis recuerdos de la infancia, donde una simple mirada de aquellos ojos verdes de mi abuela derretían mi voluntad en mil pedazos.
La exploración física deja el destino de aquella tarde en mis manos.
Me imagino que ya sabéis cual fue mi actitud, ajustarle el tratamiento, y regalarle otra dosis más de bingo.
Porque todos tenemos nuestro particular «bingo», aquello que nos mantiene con una sonrisa en el rostro y con un interés por el mañana. Y eso mis queridos lectores, es un necesario aliado para mantener la salud de nuestros pacientes.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said «You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.» She put the shell to her ear and screamed. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said «You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.» She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
