En su bata blanca, cuelga una chapa donde lleva con orgullo un lema Con Tinta de Médico, «revolucionando la Atención Primaria, porque otra medicina es posible».
No lleva mucho tiempo en aquella consulta de atención primaria pero ya aprendió el camino para dominarla.
Después de 3 meses desde que aterrizara en aquel centro de salud para sustituir una «gracias a dios» prolongada baja, está orgulloso con su trabajo. Es el contrato más largo que ha tenido desde que acabó la residencia.
Llegó con fuerzas e ilusión y propuso unos cambios en la forma de trabajar que ahora comienzan a darle resultados.
Actualizó su tratamiento de pacientes crónicos, ordenó los episodios de las informatizadas historias clínicas, puso unas normas para organizar su agenda y durante un tiempo empezó su consulta más temprano de lo habitual, para intentar reducir la lista de espera en su cupo.
Una vez que ha puesto su agenda al día, ve a sus pacientes programados a primera hora, luego a los que tienen cita y siempre deja entre medias algún hueco para las urgencias. Al final de la mañana por regla general acude a algún domicilio, pues aunque no surja una llamada siempre tiene algún paciente al que visitar.
No se arruga, estudió la especialidad que quería, y se alejó de los hospitales intencionadamente para acercarse de otra forma a los pacientes.
Hace unos meses leyó un post en aquel blog que ya muchos siguen, en el cual el autor criticaba que algunos compañeros de Atención Primaria habían bajado los brazos. El autor recibió felicitaciones en privado e injustificadas críticas en público, y es que algunos compañeros no comprenden que no en todos los sitios se trabaja igual, y que una misma realidad puede tener diferentes versiones.
A él le gustó el artículo, él si lo entendió. A pesar de que realiza eficaz y eficientemente su trabajo, también termina cada día extenuado buscando un motivo para mantener la ilusión en la Atención Primaria. Pero a diferencia de otros, él no puede negar que hay colegas que este sentimiento ya lo perdieron, y se han convertido en meros dispensadores de medicamentos anclados a una silla, algunos con manifiesto incluido.
Desde hace unos días vuelve a estar en paro, el compañero al que cubría ya se incorporó. Ahora sólo lo llaman eventualmente para alguna sustitución, y se tiene que buscar la vida lejos de la atención primaria.
En ocasiones, quiere tirar el fonendo y bajar los brazos. Le da pena ver aquel video donde se cuentan las virtudes de su especialidad, parece una broma de mal gusto.
Cree que en España la Medicina de Familia sólo busca mejoras para hacer más fácil el trabajo de los profesionales que ya ocupan una plaza y tal vez deba hacer las maletas y coger un avión destino a Suecia, Reino Unido o Alemania, como ya desde hace unos años lo hacen sus compañeros de enfermería.
A veces le tienta la idea de volver a repetir el MIR y elegir otra especialidad, aunque la precariedad laboral ya está bien asentada en la mayoría de las especialidades.
De momento por las noches, todavía sigue revisando su maletín negro, le gusta asegurarse que está preparado.
Se duerme soñando, con que tal vez una mañana suene su teléfono y le ofrezcan una oportunidad para trabajar en atención primaria.
Esperemos que ese día llegue antes de que caduquen sus ilusiones.

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said «You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.» She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!

My blog has a lot of unique content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Today, I went to the beach with my kids.
